Angel Falls – World’s Highest Waterfall

Angel Falls is the world’s highest waterfall. It has a height of 1,054 meters and a plunge of 807 meters. They are located in Venezuela, in the Canaima National Park, in the south eastern side of the country, near to the borders with Brazil and Guyana. Angel Falls’ original name is Kerepakupai merú, meaning waterfall of the deepest place in the local ancient language. The fall is so high that a big part of the water doesn’t actually reach its end, but gets evaporated or contributed in forming a mist. It’s possible to have short and long tours around the falls and the National Park. One of the most popular activities of the region is a touristic tour by helicopter around the waterfall. In spite of being one of Venezuela most popular tourist spots, the Canaima National Park and the Angel Falls aren’t easy to reach as they are located in a rather isolated jungle region. A flight from Caracas or Ciudad Bolivar is most likely the best option, with flights landing in Canaima camp, the starting point for river cruises to the falls’ base. These trips are usually done from June to December.
